Work Permit Procedure and Visa assistance
ABC Relocations provides procedural information and coordinates the administration of all documentation required for the work permit process and visa application. At all times we remain in close communication with all parties involved and track the process throughout the procedure.

Residence Permit Procedure

We provide procedural information and coordinate the collection of all necessary documents. If possible, we make an appointment for the first town hall visit and accompany the expatriate to the town hall. Follow-up visits are scheduled to suit the requirements of each town hall, until collection of the residence permit/electronic ID card.

Limosa Government Registration

All expatriates not on a Belgian payroll require a Limosa government registration. ABC Relocations coordinates the collection of necessary documents, we represent you for registration, complete the online formalities, and produce the L1 certificate. We then provide you with the L1 certificate and forward the certificate to the employee.

Translation, legalization and apostille of documents

Temporary Accommodation

Furnished and serviced apartments are ideal for shorter assignments or during the first few weeks of an expatriation period.

House hunt

Firstly ABC Relocations contacts the expatriate by email and phone to ascertain individual requirements. Based on those needs, we thoroughly research the property market before selecting properties to be shown. We accompany the expatriate for the viewing of the properties and provide professional guidance in the decision-making process.

Lease check

For you as our client, we rely on our expertise and knowledge of the market to negotiate the best possible rates and conditions. We are entirely independent from any estate agent or other service provider, which enables us to provide impartial advice and ensures that your needs are put first.

Entry Survey/Inspection

ABC Relocations makes an appointment with the landlord and, if applicable, with an independent surveyor to carry out the legally mandatory ingoing/outgoing inventory check. We are present on the day of the actual survey.

Based on the family’s preferences and exploratory discussions, we select appropriate schools and set up appointments. ABC Relocations also provides a shortlist of day care centers in the requested region. If a selection is made, we follow up on the admission and enrollment procedure and assist families in selection and enrollment of extra-curricular activities.

Opening Bank Account

We help the expatriate in finding a bank with an agency at a convenient location and accompany if required to open the account.

Home Insurance & Deposit

We help set-up the necessary insurances and provide proof of payment of 1st month’s rent and deposit, in order to receive the keys of the property.

National Health Insurance

ABC Relocations assists with the collection and completion of all documents required and submits them to the relevant official bodies.

Utilities Connections

We prepare the documents for the connection and/or transfer of the utilities such as electricity, heating, water, phone, internet, cable TV… to the new tenant’s name and finalize the transfer procedure.

Exchanging/Obtaining Driving License

ABC Relocations helps determine whether an exchange for a Belgian driving license is possible or not. If an exchange is possible, and depending on the town hall, we assist in the exchange process. If an exchange is not possible and a theoretical or practical exam needs to be passed, we set up an appointment for the practical driving test at a recognized exam center and accompany the expatriate if necessary.

Depending on the purpose of the orientation tour, pre-decision or familiarization, we tailor the orientation tour to suit the individual needs of the employee. We guide the expatriate through the main residential areas and inform him or her on the local rental/buying market, to compare location and prices. We explain the distances between home, school and work, and indicate the main points of interest in terms of shopping, sports and leisure.

House termination

For a departing expatriate at the end of an assignment or for a domestic employee who leaves the home country, ABC Relocations takes care of cancelling the tenancy agreement/lease and goes through the leaving checklist. This can substantially reduce ‘damages’ at the Exit survey. We also organize the disconnection of utilities, the town hall de- registration, the final utility bills and monitor the return of the lease guarantee.

Retrieval of Personal Official Documentation

This service includes the legalization and retrieval of official documentation such as birth, wedding or divorce certificates, criminal records, diplomas, etc.

Move coordination

ABC Relocations obtains various quotes from removal companies and selects the offer that matches the relocating family’s requirements. We follow-up with the local agents and track the shipment and delivery of the expatriate’s household goods.

We assist in the development of an international mobility policy, tapping into its many years of experience working with blue chips all over the world. We offer solutions for managing all the expatriate related expenses. Our field of expertise allows us to provide independent and realistic advice for forced moves or voluntary move assessments.

ABC Relocations manages properties on behalf of the landlord or expatriates who prefer not to take care of the management or have relocated and need a local management company. All aspects are taken care of: maintenance, change of tenancy and rental control.
